BIHURCRYSTAL works in synergy with some of the most relevant industries in the province of Gipuzkoa. Together we work to apply the latest advanced manufacturing techniques to the development of products of the highest quality standard. We are committed to developing new markets of high added value in which the enormous potential of the region’s industrial actors can be exploited.
Scientific research is at the very core of BIHURCRYSTAL. We continuously collaborate with scientists all around the world in order to understand their needs and develop the best solutions together.
Rubén obtained his Degree in Physics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and his PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in surface science and nanotechnology.
He has work experience in the field of manufacturing technologies for high precision IR optical lenses and opto-mechanical systems, which he has advantageously employed for developing BIHURCRYSTAL’s unique fabrication methods.
Francisco obtained his degree in Physics from the Universidad de Valladolid, and later did his PhD studies at University College London. He has experience in both academic and industrial R&D in the fields of Materials Science and Photonics and has participated in the creation of several start-up projects.
He collaborates with the European Commission as an independent expert for research and innovation programs FP7 and Horizon 2020.
Tim received his degree in Physics and his PhD, in surface science, from the University of Sussex. He also worked as a post-doc at the University of York in the field of surface science. He has 25 years of experience managing sales of high-technology equipment for companies including Omicron Surface Science and Alcatel Vacuum Technology (UK).
Enrique is professor at the University of the Basque Country and leader of the Nanophysics Lab at the Centro de Física de Materiales in San Sebastián. He received his degree and PhD in Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and later completed his background with a post-doc stay at IBM Labs in Yorktown Heights, New York.
As a researcher, he has more than 25 years of experience in Surface Science, and BIHURCRYSTAL has been able to draw on this experience for the design of its products.
Frederik Schiller is a tenured scientist for the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and a memeber of the Nanophysics Lab in San Sebastián. He obtained his PhD, on the topic of metallic quantum wells, from the University of Dresden. He then moved to San Sebastián, where he began working with Enrique Ortega on the surface electronic states of stepped metal surfaces.
He has developed many of the technical aspects of BIHURCRYSTAL.
Jesús is Defense Tenured Scientist at the Centro de Astrobiología. He has a DEA in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
He has extensive experience both in fundamental and industrial research in the areas of Embedded Systems and Space.
