CuPc on Ag(111)

ALI-1000 Deposition System

The well-known and widely studied aromatic molecule CuPc was deposited from a DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) solution using ALI. The image on the left shows a submonolayer of CuPc on Ag(111) obtained after 10 pulses at a  pre-injection system pressure of 30 mbar. The sample was annealed to 200ºC before imaging.

The results are similar to those obtained by thermal evaporation: mobile (and therefore not imaged) molecules in submonolayer areas, and a compact well-ordered 2D structure on terraces where a full layer is achieved.
